1.1. Introduction

A quick pep talk before you step into the world of e-mail marketing!

Welcome to the e-mail marketing series where we’re gonna help you become an ace e-mail-marketer. Our goal by the end of this series is to empower you with everything you need to begin taking freelance projects, a full-time job, or even start and grow your business. We've taken everything we've learned from years of experience with e-mail marketing campaigns for companies across the world, a lot of research and insights from other experts, and put it into this series.

But, hold on, why e-mail marketing at all, right? 

With social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, you'd think that e-mail would've become irrelevant, but that’s actually far from the case. Believe it or not, the global e-mail users in 2019 was over 3.9 billion. And by 2024? That number is expected to be at 4.5 billion. 4.5 billion. Yeah. Not a big deal right?

And that is why e-mail marketing is supposed to be 40 times more effective than both Facebook and Twitter, combined. I mean, I could try convincing you with headlines, stats, TED Talks, but that would just be trying too hard.

Now, before we get started, let's go over what we'll be covering in this series.

  • We’ll start with an introduction, where we’ll deep dive into the basics of using e-mail as a marketing tool.
  • We’ll then talk about the different levels in e-mail marketing ---- what they’re meant to achieve and when to use them.
  • We’ll talk about how to execute each of these levels.
  • Then we’ll move on to teaching you a leading e-mail marketing tool, Active Campaign.
  • And finally, we’ll go over every single thing you need to do in order to get started with a client.

Before we dive in, let’s just pause and talk about what this means for you. What are we really working towards over the next few weeks. The goal here isn’t for you to just do another course that fills up the skills section of your resume right?

We want you to be able to join the ranks of some of the best e-mail marketers out there, and more importantly, be able to take up freelance projects almost immediately. This is why we’ve focused on teaching you the fundamentals, while making sure this course is as implementable and practical as possible. 

So, are you going to find yourself way out of your comfort zone? Yes! 

Are you gonna have to learn a whole new tool from scratch? Also yes! 

Are you going to hear me say the words e-mail marketing at least 17 times a minute?
